Friday January 27th “WHAT YOU BEHOLD”

MORNING Genesis 30:30-43

Welcome to the last weekend of the month of January.  A month flies by so fast… and since there are only 12 of them this year, before you know it, 2012 would be gone for good!  It is said that “what you behold, you become”.  So, what is your focus in life right now?  What are you bringing your energy to bear on?  Who is your role model?  How much time do you spend on home videos?  Or junk magazines?  etc.  When Jacob (who became the father of the nation of Israel) wanted to leave Uncle Laban, to start to plan his own future, they agreed on a sharing formular.  For the next six years, Jacob became prosperous at Laban’s expense.  It is said in pidgin English “cunning man die, cunning man bury am”.  Laban, Rebecca, Jacob were all deceivers, weren’t they?  We are not encouraging that, but what the animals beheld, they became!  In the evening, we will see that it is a saying that has a Biblical basis.  So, what will you behold today? Have a nice day.

EVENING 2 Corinthians 3:14-18

We thank God that every veil is taken away in Christ (v15).  In v18, we just read that when we behold the glory of the Lord, we are transformed into the same image, from glory to glory by God’s Spirit.  Isn’t that “what we behold, we become”?  Of course, it is!  We have seen it in both Testaments and every word is established by the mouth of at least two witnesses.  So, we can make a doctrine out of it.  Start to look unto Jesus, start to behold God in His Word.  Feed your faith also on books, tapes etc, that are in the direction you want to go in life, for simply what you behold from now, you will become with time.  Well…?

Memory Verse:  Hebrews 12:2

This sunday

Usually, people find it difficult to wait over what they desire from God .But not all prayers are automatic; God may not answer all prayers immediately, or may not even answer at all. That is, waiting is part of Christian life: there are times we have to wait and there are times we will be made to wait for a while. In Daniel 10:12-13, Daniel had to wait for 21 days to get his desire until God sent angel Michael to him. But the consolation is that when we have to wait, our waiting will not be in vain.
